No—it is definitely not fun to struggle getting knots and tangles out of our hair and our children’s beautiful long luscious and tangled hair.

But have you seen the ingredients in detanglers?

Water, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Sodium Benzoate, Dimethicone, Polysorbate 20, Cetearyl Alcohol, Trisiloxane, Hydroxyethyl Behenamidopropyl Dimonium Chloride, Citric Acid, Ceteth-10, Laureth-4, Parfum

Yikes! Can you say headaches? Allergies? And other health problems? You and your family deserve better!

How Detanglers Work

Regardless which of the many possible ingredients are in your particular brand of hair detangler, they all work by altering the surface of your hair. Some hair detanglers smooth your hair by coating it with an oil or polymer. Otherd acidify it to tighten the hair’s outer surface or cuticle and impart a positive electrical charge presumably to prevent the static that can worsen tangles.

Not Miracles in a Bottle

This recipe works. But you still have to have patience and show the love for your hair.

But at least you’ll avoid the chemicals and other “quick fix” ideas that lead to dry unhealthy locks and problems down the road.

Equipment and Storage

  • Large spray bottle—glass is best

Instructions

  1. Add marshmallow root and water to a small pot and bring to boil, then reduce heat and allow to simmer for 15-20 minutes.
